Frequently Asked Questions
Ezee Records
How many records can Ezee Records hold in a table?
Ezee Records uses the Microsoft .mdb, or Jet database in which to store your data.
It is the same database format as used by Access, and theorectically can hold hundreds
or even thousands of records. However, Ezee Records is mainly intended for data
storage involving dozens, rather than hundreds of records. At this stage it does
not have back-up functions, nor the ability to compact its records and otherwise
minimize the chances of data corruption. If you are investing your valuable time
in entering hundreds of records, you should consider installing a program specifically
designed for robust storage of large amounts of data.
When I try to run Ezee Records I get a message saying "Microsoft Jet 3.5 or 4.0 must
be installed to run this program. See www.heightssoftware.com/erecords_faq.htm for
details"
Microsoft Jet is probably not installed on your PC. See "Note for Windows 98 users"
on Downloads Page for further details.
When I try to run Ezee Records I get a message saying "The Microsoft Jet database
engine cannot find the input query or table '[a name]'. Make sure that it exists
and its name is spelt correctly."
When I try to run Ezee Records I get a message saying "Cannot open '[a name]'. The
table is misnamed, missing or corrupt."
In both cases, the shortcut you have clicked contains the name of a table that no
longer exists. You may have uninstalled Ezee Records then re-installed it without
deleting all the Desktop shortcuts from the first installation.
How can I back up my data?
All data is held in EZData.mdb, which is usually in C:\Program Files\Ezee Records.
Take a copy of this and paste it somewhere safe, zipping it if necessary. Later
versions of the program will include backup.
Can Ezee Records be run on Windows 95?
Ezee Records may run on Windows 95, especially if it contains all the most
recent patches that were released for it and you have been successfully running
a program - such as Microsoft Access - that uses the Microsoft Jet Database Engine.
In general though, the program is unlikely to run on a typical Windows 95 installation.
Because of this we are unable to offer support for this platform.
